Stop, Drop, and Roll!!

The guidance lesson for this week was fire safety. To learn about fire safety the kids visited the NMB Fire House. The fire department brought it to the school and spent about 30 minutes talking to the kids about fire safety. They learned if they catch on fire to "Stop, Drop, and Roll." They also learned that smoke goes up so to always get low if they cannot get out. The firefighters put on all of their gear, so the kids would know what they look like. They wanted to be sure they know they are just regular people under the suits and should not be scared if they ever see them dressed in their uniform. Here are some pictures from today's visit.

Awesome Job!

Our class made their goal for the Compliment Jar!  They voted today for a special treat for meeting this goal. Ask your child what it is all about!!

We have a new goal now....I know they will work extra hard to meet it too!

Yoga

Today was our 2nd day of yoga. We go every Wednesday morning from 7:40-8:00. The kids seem to really like it. They have a few serious moments and lots of giggles. They are learning different breathing exercises and stretches. Here are some pictures from today's yoga class.

We have had a busy week!!! We are still exploring earth materials. This week we looked at sand and clay. The class did an experiment and will be looking at the results tomorrow. 

Michelle was our PE Superstar this week...way to go!!!

Don't forget tomorrow is Spirit Day, so wear your spirit shirts or spirit colors!!! 

We had a busy week last week. We continued our Science unit on earth materials. The kids spent more time investigating rocks. We also had several students move their clips up to blue and one student move all the way to purple!! 

These students moved their clips up to blue and Se'mya was the first in our class to move her clip up to purple! She got to be line jumper for a day and jump anyone in line she wanted to! 

A'Keem also was our Artist of the Week in Ms. Siler's Art class!

Terrific Tuesday!

Today has been a great day back at school! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! We have a lot going on this week in school. Today I send home the first list of spelling words. The test is next Wednesday, so be sure to study!! We also starting our science unit today. We are investigating rocks and earth materials. Today the kids had a good time observing rocks and seeing what happens when they put them in water. They learned what a geologist is too.

Ashton and Martin made it up to blue today! Owen (middle) was the PE superstar of the week!! Way to go!

We will continue investigating rocks and earth materials tomorrow. I hope to have more pictures to post. The class is doing a wonderful job of following class procedures. Encourage them to keep up the good work. They are feeling up their compliment jar fast!!

Way to Go!

I'm proud to announce Mrs. Todd's class won the Spirit Day Award today for having the most students to wear their school shirts or school colors.....WAY TO GO!!! The kids were SO excited when Mrs. Kennington announced our class over the announcements! Keep wearing those shirts on Fridays!! 

Yesterday I had 4 students move up to blue...AWESOME JOB! 

I am also happy to say that Kamryn was Artist of the Week for our class today. 

I also have ALL permission slips in so I can now post a class picture! We are missing one student who was absent today, so I will take another picture next week hopefully with everyone!
