The kids not only got to wear their pajamas to school today, but they also went to Leaps and Bounces for good behavior and got to watch a movie while drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies.  They had so much fun and loved being in their pajamas all day!! Special Delivery!

Yesterday our class had a little white box sitting in front the classroom door with a note saying "To Mrs. Todd and class" "Love Mrs. Claus and Santa." The kids couldn't wait to open the box to see what it was....

We now have a new little friend in our class....

This little elf is named Tyler (the kids named him). He travels back to the North Pole at night and tells Santa how their behavior has been. They know that Tyler is always watching...

The kids also had their Winter  Musical this morning...it was fabulous and they all did a WONDERFUL job! I am so proud of my class!! I will post pictures soon!

How to Make a Pencil Stand Up on Its Point...

In Science we are learning about balance and motion. Yesterday we used clothes pins as counterweights and balanced a "crayfish" made from tagboard. The kids had a wonderful time exploring and trying to find where the clothes pin needed to be for the "crayfish" to balance perfectly.

Today I gave the class a new challenge. They had to balance a pencil, on its point (standing up) on a craft stick that was taped to their desks. They had a pencil, a piece of wire, and 2 clothes pins to help them. They had to figure out how to use these things to make their pencil balance on its point . They had so much fun trying to figure this out. After a few minutes of letting them experiment, I showed them how to do it. They loved it!

Thank You!

Thank you for all of your donations for our canned food drive! The kids were very excited about it. We came in 3rd place for the entire school. We had 441 items turned in!! To celebrate a job well done, the kids will enjoy an ice cream party this afternoon. They will be picking their own toppings for their vanilla ice cream! I will post pictures over Thanksgiving break.

Our canned food items ready to be picked up!

Our class beside the items...great job guys!!
This week and last week we have spent some time talking about what we have to be thankful for. I'm impressed with the answers the kids have given me.The answers vary from my family, my clothes, my food, my house, my friends, etc. We created feathers for a turkey yesterday stating all the reasons why we are thankful. Take a look!

Wow!

This week has been a busy week! We are going into the last week of our food drive. Right now we are holding 1st place for the most food brought it. If we win, we will get a trip to McDonalds! The kids are excited and really want to win, so keep sending those canned food items in! I'm very proud of how much my kids have donated. We have talked about why we are bringing this food in and they all have a big heart.
Here is a picture of all the food we have. We bagged them by 10s so they would be easy to count each day!

We have also learned about Veterans Day this week. Mrs. Chandler discussed it during Guidance and we have learned about it during Social Studies. We are making holiday cards for the soliders who will be away from their families during the holidays. The kids have really enjoyed making these cards. They have worked so hard on them. We hope to finish these cards on Monday.

We also had our 9 weeks Celebrations today. Many of the kids received awards. I was proud of ALL the kids for remembering their Special Events procedures. They did a great job of showing how to be respectful, responsible, and ready.
