Red Ribbon Week

Last week we celebrated Red Ribbon Week and learned about being Drug Free and Bully Free. Thursday was "Dress in Your Sunday Best." The kids looked so great dressed up!! 

Reach for the Stars, Not Drugs!

This week is Red Ribbon Week and we are learning about saying no to drugs and not bullying! Yesterday all the kids received a red ribbon and a Drug Free Pledge to read with me and sign. We will recite the pledge every morning after the morning news. 

Today was Reach for the Stars, Not Drugs Day at school. The kids were supposed to wear their favorite sports hero jersey or a t-shirt with their favorite movie star or singer. We had a handful of kids who participated. 

Tomorrow is Don't Let Drugs Turn you Inside Out day! The kids should wear their clothes inside out!!

Fabulous Friday!

On Fridays, the students who have not moved a clip to orange or red all week have the chance to go to the classroom treasure chest. Usually, everyone in our class gets to go. The kids love getting to dig in to see what new things they can find. I've ordered some new things and cannot wait for them to be here so I can show the kids!!

STRIKE!!

We had a wonderful time on the bowling trip today! The kids did an awesome job and enjoyed bowling. We had several who made strikes and spares!! This was a great trip to talk about our math facts. The quicker the kids know their facts that add up to 10, the better they will understand the other facts. Keep practicing at home!!

Calendar

We begin every morning with calendar. During this time we review our days of the week, months of the year, math facts, telling time, etc. The kids LOVE the days of the week song we sing. I decided to video them on Friday singing it. Take a look.

The kids are progressing well with their math facts test. Almost all have passed the October test. There are even a few already on the February test!! 

After winning Spirit Day 2 weeks in a row, we lost Friday to Miss Findlay's class...by a very small amount! Remember to wear those shirts! 

Our bowling trip is on Monday, I can't wait to share pictures with you!!

Nickels and Pennies

Our class has been learning to count nickels and pennies. They are doing a really good job and love some of the games we play. One of the games they learned to play is Penny, Nickel Exchange. They have a pile of pennies and nickels and work with a partner. They roll a die and take that many pennies. When they have 5 pennies they have to say "exchange" and switch for a nickel. Whoo hoo!

We won Spirit Day for the 2nd week in a row! Way to go!! The kids are very excited about getting popsicles again! I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend. See you all on Tuesday!!

Off to a great week!

Our class won the spirit ribbon last Friday! We will have popsicles this week during lunch from the PTO! Remember ot wear those shirts again this Friday!!!

We are also the Library Stars this week. Keep up the great work!!!

Fire Truck and Spirit Winners!

We took a visit to the fire truck on Friday afternoon. The truck wasn't at the school on Tuesday when we visited the firehouse, so the kids had a chance to look at the truck today to see what it was all about. Another firefighter put on his gear and let the kids feel it, so they would know what it was all about.

We also won spirit day on Friday. We had 17 out of 22 wear their spirit shirts or spirit colors...WAY TO GO! We have the spirit ribbon hanging outside our door for the week :)
